Camping Village Le Esperidi
ALLEYWAYS AND POETRY
A few kilometres from the sea, surrounded by the Tuscan countryside, Castagneto Carducci is located on a hill overlooking a landscape of incomparable beauty. It can best be appreciated from the natural terraces and the charming views that follow in succession along the narrow streets of its medieval village, built around the Castello dei Della Gherardesca, constructed in 1000. Here, too, the streets in the centre are paved paths, dotted with restaurants and small shops where you can find the best of tradition, both in terms of craftsmanship and typical products. Not to be missed are the Palazzo Pretorio, of great historical interest and now the Town Hall, the Church of San Lorenzo and the Church of SS. Crocifisso which houses a precious wooden crucifix of the fifteenth century. Castagneto Marittimo was the original name of this charming village, it became the current Castagneto Carducci in honour of the poet Giosué who spent part of his life in the area. The house where he lived is now a beautiful museum with numerous testimonies.
